During that time, the cost per rendered image was significantly influenced by the technical resources required. High-performance computers were expensive, specialized software demanded advanced expertise, and years of practice were necessary to achieve convincing realism. These factors gave experienced 3D artists a strong competitive advantage.
In that era, building a professional portfolio required extensive study, experimentation, and continuous learning. As a result, the perceived value of high-quality renderings was considerably higher, and pricing structures reflected the level of skill and effort involved.
Today, AI technologies are deeply integrated into visualization workflows. In many cases, generating a realistic image has become faster and more accessible than ever before. Studios can now focus on developing stronger visual narratives, marketing-driven storytelling, and emotionally engaging presentations for real estate developments. Commercial-style visuals featuring people, animals, and lifestyle scenarios are increasingly achievable, even for smaller studios that previously lacked the resources to produce such content.
Looking ahead, creativity is likely to become the defining factor that separates successful visualization studios from the rest of the market. While AI continues to raise the baseline standard of visual quality, the ability to craft compelling concepts and meaningful visual stories remains a distinctly human strength.
